Ude Okoye, music executive and brother to Paul and Peter Okoye of the former P-Square group, has declared Grammy award-winning artist Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, as the richest artist in Nigeria.
Okoye made this statement during an Instagram Live session with radio personality Daddy Freeze. He claimed that no Nigerian artist has earned more money than the self-styled Odogwu, with Burna Boy’s earnings over the past four years estimated to be around $100 million.
When asked if Burna Boy has earned more than Canadian rapper Drake, Okoye responded that Burna Boy earned between $70 million and $80 million alone last year.
“Anyone making significant money right now is Burna Boy. What I’m telling you is that Burna Boy made at least $80 million to $100 million in the last four years alone. Don’t believe what anyone else says; Burna Boy is the richest, I assure you,” he declared.
The music executive added, “If Burna Boy didn’t make a substantial amount last year (2023), he still earned at least $70 million to $80 million.”
