England’s Hannah Hampton has been crowned Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, while Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma claimed the men’s honour.
Donnarumma earned the award after playing a key role in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic first UEFA Champions League triumph before completing a move to Manchester City earlier this summer. Both goalkeepers were presented with the men’s and women’s Yashin Trophies at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in September.
Among other award recipients, Lizbeth Ovalle won the Marta Award for the best goal in women’s football, thanks to her spectacular scorpion kick for Tigres against Guadalajara in Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil in March. Ovalle now plays for Orlando Pride in the United States’ National Women’s Soccer League.
The men’s Puskás Award went to Independiente winger Santiago Montiel for his stunning overhead kick from outside the box against Independiente Rivadavia in the Argentine Primera Division in May.
Hampton, 25, enjoyed an outstanding season, playing a vital role in Chelsea’s domestic treble and helping England successfully defend their Euro 2025 title. She started every match at the tournament, including the final, where England defeated Spain on penalties.
She also featured in every game of Chelsea’s unbeaten Women’s Super League campaign, finishing the season with 13 clean sheets to claim the Golden Glove.
Reflecting on the achievement, Hampton said, “With club and country, we have achieved so much, and there is still so much more for us to go and get.” She also thanked England manager Sarina Wiegman and Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor for their belief, while expressing gratitude to the fans for their continued support.
