Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has shrugged off concerns surrounding his recent goal drought, insisting he stayed composed despite going months without finding the net.
Palmer broke his dry spell with a crucial goal in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday, converting a stoppage-time penalty that handed the league champions only their third defeat of the season. It was his first goal since January.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Palmer admitted the lack of goals hadn’t weighed heavily on him.
“No goals for months? I just felt normal. Obviously, sh*t happens, you know what I mean,” he said.
The young England international, who has been central to Chelsea’s attack this season, added that the experience only strengthened his resolve.
“It gives me more fight and motivation to do more for myself and for the team.”
As for criticism during the goal drought, Palmer brushed off the negativity often found online.
“Social media nowadays is full of idiots, trolls… I don’t care about that,” he said.
