Former Werder Bremen forward Martin Harnik has challenged Nigerian striker Victor Boniface to raise his level and deliver with greater consistency as the club enters a decisive stage of the campaign.
In a chat with DeichStube, Harnik highlighted how crucial regular goalscoring will be for Werder’s ambitions this season.
“It’s clear that having a striker who scores consistently would massively help push the team higher up the table. Boniface and Topp have great quality — they just need to show it more often,” he said.
Harnik noted that Werder have the right attacking options, but unlocking their full potential remains the real hurdle.
“Werder have good strikers, but both the players and the coaching staff must find ways to finally bring out their complete strengths,” he added.
His remarks come as expectations rise around Boniface, who is yet to find the net this season after moving from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
Despite his slow start, the forward still made Eric Chelle’s 54-man provisional list for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
