Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has expressed his desire for his player, Rodri, to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.
The Spanish international is competing for the prestigious individual prize alongside other top contenders like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, and Jude Bellingham.
Guardiola believes Rodri has earned the award, stating:
“We would be delighted—he deserves it. But maybe someone else deserves it too. The people will vote.
“Rodri has performed exceptionally well not just this season but over many seasons. His previous season was outstanding, with the Premier League and the Euros titles with Spain.
“Of course, there are other players who have had a great season.
“I would love for a City player to win it because it means a lot to the players. I would love it.
“But I’ve said many times, just being in contention shows that the club—both individually and collectively—has had a great season.
“There are many excellent teams and players, and while I hope it happens, it’s not in my hands.”
