According to the registrar, out of the registered candidates, 1,904,109 sat for the examination. 80,810 were absent.

He explained that 64,624 results were under investigation for various reasons, such as verification (2,896), procedural investigations (4,594), and prima facie established exam misconduct (78).

He said other results under investigation were centre-based investigations involving 57,056 candidates in 18 centres across the country.

The 18 centres listed for the investigation were 12 in Edo, three in Akwa Ibom, two in Delta, and one in Kwara State.

“The Board witnessed a near-zero infraction situation in the 2024 UTME except for a few cases, which represent just a tiny fraction of what was reported last year.

“This is encouraging, and the board is poised to consolidate on the successes recorded,” he said.

While giving analysis of the results, Oloyede said 8,401 candidates representing 0.5 per cent scored 300 and above; 77,070 candidates representing 4.2 per cent scored 250 and above.

The registrar disclosed that out of the total registered candidates, a staggering 1,904,109 individuals actively participated in the examination, while a notable 80,810 were notably absent.

Further elaborating on the examination outcomes, he highlighted that a significant portion of results, precisely 64,624, are currently undergoing meticulous scrutiny due to various reasons, including the need for verification (2,896 cases), procedural investigations (4,594 cases), and instances of prima facie established exam misconduct (78 cases).

Moreover, the registrar emphasized that a considerable number of investigations are centered around specific examination centres, encompassing a total of 57,056 candidates spread across 18 identified centres nationwide. Notably, these centres include 12 located in Edo, three in Akwa Ibom, two in Delta, and one in Kwara State, underscoring the geographic diversity of the examination-related issues.

Despite these challenges, the registrar expressed satisfaction with the overall integrity of the 2024 UTME, highlighting a remarkable reduction in infractions compared to previous years, thus reaffirming the board’s commitment to upholding the sanctity of the examination process.

Delving into the statistical analysis of the results, Professor Oloyede provided insightful data, indicating that 8,401 candidates, constituting 0.5% of the total, attained scores of 300 and above, while an impressive 77,070 candidates, representing 4.2% of the total, achieved scores of 250 and above. These figures underscore the diverse range of academic capabilities demonstrated by UTME participants, reflecting the multifaceted nature of the examination landscape.
