A Nigerian man has been arrested in India for allegedly supplying about N812m (Rs 5 crore) worth of drugs to at least 1,975 consumers in Telangana.

According to a Times of India report, the suspect—identified only as Nick—carried out the bulk of his operations through an online platform.

This development comes just days after more than 50 Nigerians were arrested for alleged visa overstaying in a large raid conducted by Eagle Force Telangana, the NCB, the Delhi Police Crime Branch, and supported by Noida Police.

The report stated, “A Nigerian drug cartel supplying narcotics to 1,975 consumers in Telangana has transacted nearly Rs 5 crore worth of drugs online in just two months.”

Investigations linked to earlier cases involving Malnadu Restaurant and Mahindra University revealed that orders were being placed with Nick, described as a major cartel operator based in Nigeria.

“He used two international phone numbers,” the report added, noting that around 30 courier offices frequently used by Nigerian handlers to ship drugs were identified. Investigators also found that merchandise purchased on Flipkart was being used to conceal packages, with several Nigerians in Delhi flagged for large online purchases—exposing the full network.

All suspects wanted by Telangana police have now been handed over for further investigation.

Friday’s arrest adds to a growing list of cases involving Nigerians in India, including incidents related to alleged overstaying, suspected murder, drug offences, and robbery.
