Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, has agreed to undergo a DNA test for her son, Liam.

Omowunmi, the widow of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has agreed to a DNA test to establish the paternity of their only son, Liam.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2024, under controversial circumstances, and was buried in Ikorodu, Lagos, the following day. Following public outcry for an investigation, his body was exhumed for an autopsy.

Subsequently, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, filed a lawsuit requesting a DNA test for his grandson. The legal team representing Joseph sought permission to serve Wunmi by posting documents to her last known address, as attempts to serve her personally were unsuccessful.

During a hearing on July 9, 2024, at a Magistrates Court in Ikorodu, both parties were directed to pursue alternative dispute resolution, but negotiations failed to produce an agreement.

In a statement released on October 27, 2024, a representative from the family’s legal team, Monisola Odumosu, announced that Wunmi had agreed to the DNA test. This decision came after both parties drafted settlement terms.

Odumosu explained that Emmanuel Oroko, representing the family, informed the court of the out-of-court settlement, which was subsequently adopted as the court’s judgment.

As per the settlement terms, Wunmi consented to have the DNA test conducted at a recognized and accredited medical facility in Lagos or an alternative hospital agreed upon by both parties. Mohbad’s father agreed to cover the costs associated with the DNA testing process.

The court also ordered that the DNA test be conducted at a mutually agreed laboratory or medical center within Nigeria, with appointed officers supervising the procedure to ensure reliability. Furthermore, the court ruled that both parties would bear their respective costs in this matter, except for the costs of the DNA tests, which Joseph agreed to cover.
