The United States Embassy in Abuja has warned Nigerians about the severe repercussions of visa fraud, stressing that providing false information or submitting forged documents can lead to a lifetime ban from entering the US.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, the embassy said visa fraud carries grave consequences, noting that anyone who lies or presents fake documents risks permanent ineligibility under US immigration laws.
The warning followed a meeting between US Ambassador Richard Mills and Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, where both parties discussed bilateral cooperation. The embassy reaffirmed that the United States remains committed to working closely with Nigeria on matters of shared interest.
The talks took place against the backdrop of heightened diplomatic focus on Nigeria’s security challenges. Recently, some US lawmakers have raised concerns over attacks on communities, especially in the North and Middle Belt, describing them as serious breaches of religious freedom and calling for stronger US–Nigeria collaboration to safeguard at-risk populations.
