Singer Davido has praised the democratic process in the United States, drawing a stark comparison to the system in Nigeria.
During an interview on The Morning Hustle show, the 32-year-old artist reflected on his involvement in the recent US presidential election. Holding dual citizenship in the US and Nigeria, Davido revealed that he cast his vote for Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party, motivated by his hope to see America elect its first female president during his lifetime.
Although Donald Trump emerged victorious, Davido commended the transparent electoral process, stating:
“What I like about America is that there is true democracy. Where I come from [Nigeria], it’s not so. The truth is people voted for him. I voted for Kamala. People voted, so whatever happens, happens.”
