A Governor of Abia State in Nigeria, Alex Otti, has highlighted major achievements in road construction, debt reduction, and governance reforms under his administration. The Nigerian governor infrastructure record reflects strong performance in infrastructure delivery, fiscal discipline, and public service improvement.
Governor Otti revealed that 414 roads have been constructed across the state within three years, covering about 864.12 kilometres. These projects include street lighting and drainage systems aimed at improving road safety, transportation efficiency, and urban development.
He also announced that the state’s debt profile has been reduced by about 60%, dropping from approximately ₦191 billion in 2023 to below ₦50 billion in 2025. According to him, this achievement is part of broader financial reforms focused on transparency and accountability in governance.
The Nigerian governor infrastructure record also highlights improvements in governance, debt management, and public infrastructure delivery, reflecting stronger policy implementation and better resource allocation across sectors.
Otti further stated that Abia State has improved significantly in independent governance rankings, moving from 17th position in 2023 to 4th in 2025. This reflects better resource management and improved policy execution.
In addition, 82 more roads are currently under construction at various stages of completion, expanding infrastructure development across the state. The administration has also introduced electric buses and is building supporting infrastructure such as charging stations to modernise public transportation.
In the health sector, over 821 healthcare professionals have been recruited, while more than 93,000 residents are enrolled in a health insurance scheme. Hundreds of primary healthcare centres have also been renovated and upgraded to improve access to healthcare services.
Education reforms include smart school projects and improvements in higher institutions, while land administration reforms have digitised millions of records and issued thousands of Certificates of Occupancy.
The administration says more infrastructure projects are still ongoing across different sectors, with additional road networks, public facilities, and urban development plans expected to be completed in the coming months. Officials maintain that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to strengthen economic growth and improve living standards.
