Former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor, Kingsley Moghalu, has outlined reasons he believes led to former President Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 5 presidential election. Moghalu suggested that Americans are not yet ready for a female president, noting that sexism played a role in Harris’s loss.
According to Diaspora Glitz Magazine, Trump defeated Harris on Wednesday to become the 47th U.S. President. Moghalu also pointed to Americans’ economic concerns, particularly high inflation during the campaign season, as a factor influencing voter decisions. Additionally, he noted that Harris struggled to win over the white working-class demographic, citing both racism and sexism as potential obstacles.
On his X handle, Moghalu elaborated on why Harris lost:
1. Sexism: Many Americans are not ready for a female President.
2. Economic Perceptions: Concerns about inflation, which was high for much of the campaign.
3. White Working-Class Skepticism: Harris faced challenges connecting with this demographic.
4. Desire for Traditional Values: Despite Trump’s legal issues and polarizing personality, many Americans showed a preference for traditional values over what they see as a “woke” liberal agenda.
Moghalu concluded that while Harris ran an effective, well-organized campaign, she couldn’t overcome the factors driving support for Trump.
