U.S. President Joe Biden is set to address the nation on Thursday following Donald Trump’s historic victory over Kamala Harris. Biden has pledged a peaceful transfer of power to Trump.
The address will take place in the Rose Garden at the White House, where Biden will discuss the election results and the transition process to his successor.
The White House confirmed that Biden spoke with Trump on Wednesday, expressing his commitment to a smooth transition and the need to unite the country.
During the call, Biden extended an invitation for Trump to visit the White House, despite their long-standing differences. Trump’s campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, said Trump “looks forward to the meeting and appreciated the call.”
