Tobi Amusan Taiwan Record: Nigerian Star Wins Gold
Tobi Amusan continued her impressive form by winning gold in the women’s 100m hurdles at the New Taipei Athletics Open in Taiwan, setting a new meeting record in the process.
The Nigerian sprint hurdler crossed the finish line in 12.72 seconds, comfortably ahead of Taiwan’s Bo Ya Zhang, who claimed silver with a time of 13.17 seconds. Yi Po-an finished third to secure the bronze medal in 13.37 seconds.
Amusan’s performance established a new Tobi Amusan Taiwan record, breaking the previous meeting mark of 12.80 seconds set by American athlete and former world champion Nia Ali.
The 29-year-old looked dominant throughout the competition. After comfortably winning her qualifying heat, she carried the momentum into the final and took control of the race after the fourth hurdle, creating a significant gap between herself and the rest of the field.
Her commanding display left spectators in awe as she crossed the finish line well before some competitors had cleared the final hurdle.
