On Thursday, Nigeria faced another nationwide blackout as the national grid collapsed around 11:20 a.m., disrupting bulk power supply. The Nigeria National Grid confirmed the incident on X, posting, “BREAKING: Another Grid Setback Experienced.” This marks the second collapse this week and the twelfth in the past eleven months, sparking mixed reactions across social media.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria has yet to issue an official statement on the cause, though previous incidents were attributed to line and generator trips. Meanwhile, Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu recently received a report investigating these frequent collapses, though its findings remain undisclosed. Nigerians have increasingly called for Adelabu’s removal amid the ongoing power disruptions.
