EPL: Manchester United complete £62.5m signing of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha

by Admin

Manchester United have signed Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal reportedly worth £62.5 million ($83 million).

The 26-year-old is set to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with an option for an additional year. United confirmed the agreement in an official statement on Sunday, saying:
“Manchester United has reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha. Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford.”

Cunha spent the weekend in Manchester to finalise the move, which remains subject to visa approval and registration.

A 13-cap Brazil international, Cunha enjoyed a standout season at Wolves, scoring 18 goals across all competitions and earning the club’s Player of the Year award. Since joining from Atlético Madrid in January 2023, he registered 33 goals in 92 appearances.

United triggered the release clause in his contract, making him the first signing under new manager Ruben Amorim.

The transfer follows a disappointing campaign for United, who ended the season 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham—marking their lowest league finish since 1973-74.
