by Admin

Nigerian music has once again captured global attention as five Nigerian artists earned nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The 68th Grammy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Nigerian acts competing in major categories — a further sign of the country’s growing influence on the global music scene.

Burna Boy leads the nominations with two nods, earning recognition for Best African Music Performance with Love and Best Global Music Album for No Sign of Weakness, reinforcing his status as one of Africa’s most consistent Grammy contenders.

Davido also returns to the Grammy stage, securing a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for With You, featuring Omah Lay.

Ayra Starr adds another Grammy nomination to her career with Gimme Dat, her collaboration with Wizkid, which is also nominated in the Best African Music Performance category. Wizkid, through the same track, extends his long list of Grammy recognitions.

Omah Lay rounds out the list with his feature on With You, marking another significant milestone in his rising career.

In a historic first, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti will be honoured with a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, becoming the first African artist to receive the distinction. The award will be presented at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony on Saturday, January 31, 2026, alongside legendary figures including Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Cher, and Paul Simon.
