The Trump Iran blockade plan has emerged in a new report claiming that former US President Donald Trump has directed officials to prepare a long-term strategy targeting Iran’s ports and oil exports over its nuclear programme.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Trump Iran blockade plan is aimed at increasing pressure on Iran to force major concessions on uranium enrichment and nuclear development. The report suggests the approach focuses on economic and naval restrictions rather than immediate large-scale military action.
Sources cited in the report say Trump believes Iran is not negotiating in good faith. He is reportedly pushing for an agreement that would require Tehran to suspend uranium enrichment for up to 20 years and accept strict limitations beyond that period.
In a post shared on his social media platform, Trump reportedly stated, “They better get smart soon!” reflecting his hardline stance on the issue.
The report also claims the decision was discussed during a White House Situation Room meeting on Monday, where officials evaluated possible responses to the ongoing tensions. Options reportedly included renewed airstrikes or complete disengagement, both of which were considered high-risk.
Instead, the Trump Iran blockade plan allegedly directs the US Navy to intensify pressure on Iran’s oil exports, a key revenue source for the country. The goal, according to the report, is to weaken Iran economically until it agrees to Washington’s demands.
Analysts suggest that if such a strategy were implemented, it could significantly disrupt global oil markets, potentially affecting supply chains and increasing energy prices worldwide. It may also heighten tensions in the Middle East, where naval routes and shipping lanes remain highly sensitive.

The report adds that diplomatic allies of the United States could also be drawn into the situation, depending on how enforcement actions are carried out in international waters.
If implemented, the strategy would represent one of the most aggressive economic pressure campaigns in recent years, potentially increasing already high tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Iranian officials have not yet responded to the report, and the US government has also not issued an official confirmation regarding the claims.
