Nigerian Muslims have taken to social media to express their outrage following the announcement that Saudi Arabia has opened its first alcohol store in Riyadh.
Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited in Islam, and traditionally, Saudi Arabia has upheld this prohibition by banning alcohol sales in the country. However, this recent development marks the first time that an alcohol store has been established in Riyadh’s diplomatic quarter.
The news sparked strong reactions from Nigerian Muslims, with many expressing their dismay online. “Disgraceful,” one user wrote on social media. “They’re slowly turning Saudi Arabia into Las Vegas, and it’s making me mad. At this rate, they’ll soon legalize prostitution and same-sex marriage in our most sacred city.”
