Ufoka Eugene, Helsinki-based political and human rights activist, co-founder and chairperson of the African Anti-Racism Society Finland ry awarded the Finnish Anti-racism Prize by a people’s jury convened by The Forum for Finnish Foreign Scholars ry and No Hate Finland ry.

Ufoka Eugene receives the anti-racism prize in Finland
He is the first migrant and person of African origin to clinch the award. The Finnish Anti-racism Prize has been awarded to people to recognize their achievements and efforts in human rights and anti-racism in Finland. Former President of Finland, Tarja Halonen is also a recipient of this prize.

This prize award started 25 years ago in memory of Andrew MacAfferty who was active in founding Pakolaisneuvonta r.y. and was on the first board. He passed away and funds donated in memorium were used for Anti Racism prizes by the forum for Finnish foreign scholars ry and No hate Finland ry The prize award ceremony took place today at Helsinki City Museum though Ufoka Eugene was proclaimed winner of the prize on the 21 March 2023 on the UN international day against racism.
