Elon Musk alleges that a ‘massive’ cyberattack that disrupted his social media platform, X, originated from Ukraine.

Elon Musk claims Ukraine is behind a major cyberattack that disrupted his social media platform, X.

The platform experienced widespread glitches on Monday, March 10, prompting Musk to reveal that X was targeted by a “massive cyberattack” with IP addresses traced to Ukraine. Speaking to Fox Business Network, Musk said, “We’re not sure exactly what happened, but there was a massive cyberattack to try to bring down the X system with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area.”

While Musk confirmed that X is now operational, the attack impacted its 600 million active monthly users. He suggested that the scale of the hack indicates the involvement of a “coordinated group” or possibly a foreign nation. However, he did not provide further details.

The incident comes amid rising tensions between Kyiv and Washington. Last month, former U.S. President Donald Trump labeled Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a “dictator” and accused him of not being grateful for U.S. military aid. Following their meeting at the White House, Zelensky was reportedly expelled, and a proposed minerals deal between the U.S. and Ukraine remained unsigned, sparking backlash in Kyiv.

Musk has been vocal in his criticism of Zelensky, previously calling him “evil” and accusing him of prolonging the war with Russia. In October, he advocated for a ceasefire, warning that reckless decisions could lead to World War III.

As tensions persist, Zelensky traveled to Saudi Arabia on Monday for talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Ukrainian and U.S. officials are set to meet there on Tuesday, with Washington hoping to push forward peace efforts in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
