EPL: Amorim insists he has no fears over his job security

by Admin

Manchester United boss Rúben Amorim says he is not worried about his future, despite fresh pressure following a 3-1 defeat to Brentford that halted hopes of a turnaround.

The loss came just a week after an uplifting win over Chelsea had raised optimism, but United’s inconsistency has left them stuck in the bottom half of the Premier League. Under Amorim, they have collected 34 points from 33 league games and are still without back-to-back wins. According to BBC Sport, the improvement promised after last season’s dismal 15th-place finish has yet to be delivered.

“I am never concerned about my job – I am not that kind of guy,” Amorim told BBC Match of the Day. “It is not my decision. I will do the best I can every minute I am here.”

While the club hierarchy has publicly backed the Portuguese coach, results continue to fuel doubts. With no midweek fixtures to distract from the setback, scrutiny of Amorim’s position is only intensifying.

Former Wales midfielder Ashley Williams told BBC Final Score: “I don’t want to say they change manager, but how long can this continue? It feels like we have the same conversation every week. I like managers who stick to their style, but this clearly isn’t working. He has to adapt.”

Ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown added: “They don’t look good enough. His win percentage is barely higher than Graham Potter’s when he was sacked. How is he still in the job? If this was 12 months after Ferguson, it would have been done weeks ago.”
