West Ham United have parted company with head coach Graham Potter after a poor run of form that stretched from the latter part of last season into the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
In a statement released on Saturday, the club confirmed that both results and performances had “not matched expectations,” adding that the Board of Directors felt a managerial change was necessary to improve the team’s Premier League standing “as soon as possible.”
Potter’s exit also sees his entire backroom staff leave the London Stadium, including Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor, First Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, Lead Goalkeeper Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin.
“The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future,” the statement read. The club added that the process of appointing a new manager is already underway, though no further updates will be made until a successor is announced.
Potter, appointed less than a year ago, had come under mounting pressure after a string of disappointing results left West Ham in the lower half of the Premier League.
The 50-year-old first rose to prominence with Swedish side Östersunds FK, whom he guided from the fourth tier to European competition. His reputation grew further at Brighton & Hove Albion, where his progressive style of play and focus on player development earned widespread praise.
That success secured him a move to Chelsea in 2022, but his tenure at Stamford Bridge was cut short after just seven months amid inconsistent results despite significant transfer spending.
