The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has quietly reduced the ex-gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) below the previously announced ₦835 per litre.
Sources revealed on Monday that customers now receive a ₦10 rebate after successfully loading products at the refinery, effectively lowering the price to ₦825 per litre. Although marketers initially pay ₦835 per litre, the rebate is issued post-evacuation.
This unofficial price adjustment has enabled marketers to retail petrol between ₦830 and ₦835 per litre, giving them an advantage over importers and private depot operators. One source explained, “The Dangote refinery has started giving a rebate on its products. It’s not an official reduction yet, but paid back after marketers buy products from them.”
Just last month, the refinery implemented two price cuts in one week, slashing its gantry price from ₦880 to ₦835 per litre—a total reduction of ₦45.
These price adjustments follow the resumption of the Naira-for-Crude policy for local refiners after a temporary suspension.
Attempts to obtain an official comment from Dangote Group spokesperson Anthony Chiejina on the latest development were unsuccessful.
