Businessman Obi Cubana has made a direct appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to intervene in the release of the detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
He stressed that true peace and stability in Igboland cannot be achieved without Kanu’s freedom. In a message shared on his social media page, Obi Cubana expressed deep concern over the rising insecurity across the nation.
He cited several troubling developments—the United States listing Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” widespread student kidnappings, attacks on religious centres, the killing of a Brigadier General, and the ongoing detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu—all of which he said have plunged the country into a state of fear and uncertainty.
Obi Cubana revealed that he and other notable Nigerians have held conversations with influential political figures, including the Deputy Speaker of the House and the President’s son, to address urgent national issues.
He reiterated the sentiment strongly held across the region: “One thing is very clear: no Igbo man or woman will have peace if MNK does not regain his freedom, and Ala Igbo will never be the same again.” While acknowledging the heightened emotions, he maintained, “Tempers are high, but we all want MNK out, and we will never rest until he is free.”
He concluded by emphasising the power of dialogue: “Constructive agitations are the foundation of great societies, but lasting solutions will always come from the negotiation table.
