A top Nigerian Correctional Service official provided an update on Bobrisky’s treatment in prison, following a six-month sentence for naira abuse. Justice Abimbola Awogboro’s ruling aimed to deter naira abuse. Upon entry, Bobrisky was examined, showing no signs of gender or genital organ alteration, and retained male biological features.
The source told Punch: “Bobrisky declared himself male; court records verify this. All inmates are examined during admission; he was found unchanged. A cell was assigned to him with other inmates and a bed space. It’s like a boarding house with a housemaster.
“He follows the same schedule as others for class, meals, prep, and lights out. He receives no special treatment and is not shielded from others. He adheres to the same rules as other inmates.
“Isolation cells prevent disease outbreaks; male prisons prohibit homosexuality, which is a serious offense. Inmates attempting to harm him will face legal consequences.”
