The Serie A game between Roma and Udinese was abandoned following a medical emergency.
Ivory Coast and Roma defender Evan Ndicka collapsed on the field in the 70th minute, halting play for 10 minutes.
According to Sky Italia, Ndicka was conscious but stretchered off, with referee Luca Pairetto deciding with both managers to end the match about 10 minutes later.
The score was tied at 1-1 when Ndicka was taken to the hospital.
Roma stated: ‘Following Evan Ndicka’s medical emergency, the match between Udinese and Roma has been suspended.
‘The player is awake and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
‘Forza Evan, we are all supporting you!’
Roma players visited their teammate at the hospital.
‘The team visited Ndicka in the hospital. Evan is doing better and is in good spirits. He will stay in the hospital for more monitoring,’ the Serie A club posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In the meantime, Udinese also expressed their support for the defender.
“We stand with you, Ndicka,” read their message.
Ndicka, 24, joined Roma from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer and has played in 28 matches across all competitions this season.
