Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, to six months in jail without a fine option.
The sentence was issued on Friday morning, April 12.
Previously, on April 5, the EFCC arraigned Bobrisky on six counts, including abuse of the naira and money laundering. Although the court dismissed the money laundering charges, he was convicted of naira abuse after admitting to the crime. He was ordered to stay in EFCC detention in Lagos.
The judge then scheduled the hearing for judgment to April 9, but the court could not convene due to the Eid-Fitri public holiday from April 9 to April 11.
