Former Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has urged Victor Osimhen not to return to Napoli, instead advising the striker to pursue a move to the Premier League.
Osimhen, who netted 37 goals and registered eight assists in 41 appearances for Galatasaray last season, remains one of the most in-demand players in the current transfer window.
Speaking to Footy Africa, Onazi said he believes the Nigerian forward would thrive at Arsenal.
“I would not want Osimhen to return to Napoli,” Onazi said. “Hopefully, he gets a move away from the club and joins another team in Italy or, preferably, in England.”
Onazi also revealed that he once encouraged Osimhen to leave Napoli after guiding the club to a historic Serie A title—matching a feat last achieved during Diego Maradona’s era.
“I told him he had already achieved what Maradona did by winning the league with Napoli, and the fans would never forget that. But if anything were to go wrong, they might not remember all he’s done,” he explained.
“If I were to pick a club for him, I’d say Arsenal. They need a striker, they can maximise his strengths, and I believe he would do very well there.”
