Super Eagles winger Moses Simon struck the decisive goal as Paris FC ended AS Monaco’s six-game unbeaten streak with a 1-0 win at the Stade Louis II on Saturday.
Simon fired Paris ahead in the 53rd minute, smashing Maxime Lopez’s cutback into the roof of the net from the middle of the box.
Monaco entered the contest in strong form, having won their previous two matches to stay in the title hunt alongside Paris Saint-Germain. The hosts began brightly, with Krepin Diatta going close midway through the first half after cutting inside on his left foot, but his effort drifted just wide of the post.
Their missed opportunities proved costly as Simon broke the deadlock early in the second half. Monaco nearly levelled just before the hour mark when Maghnes Akliouche’s low strike was denied by Kevin Trapp, who dived to his left to make a fine save.
The remainder of the match offered little attacking threat from either side, with both struggling to create clear chances.
Paris once again relied on a narrow margin to secure victory — their eighth one-goal win in the last nine outings — climbing to 10th in Ligue 1.
For Monaco, the defeat dealt a blow to their title hopes, leaving them four points adrift of leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
