Tottenham have extended Heung-Min Son’s contract, keeping him at the club until June 2026.
The South Korea forward and club captain’s previous deal was set to expire in June, putting Spurs at risk of losing him on a free transfer after a decade-long tenure since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.
Barcelona was among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the 32-year-old this summer, but Son will now remain at Tottenham for at least another year.
“We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026,” Tottenham’s statement read.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou also welcomed the news, speaking ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool, expressing that the goal is for Son to end his Tottenham career with a trophy.
“He’s already had an outstanding career at this football club,” Postecoglou said. “He’s played a big role in the last ten years, making an impact at the club and in the Premier League. It’s great to extend his stay. The aim and ambition is to make sure he finishes his Tottenham career with some silverware.”
Son is the all-time top-scoring Asian player in Premier League history and ranks third among active players in the competition, trailing only Jamie Vardy and Mo Salah.
With 169 goals in 431 appearances for Spurs across all competitions, Son’s legacy continues to grow.
