Usyk seeks a trilogy fight with Joshua.

by Admin

Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is keen on a third bout with Anthony Joshua following his upcoming rematch with Tyson Fury.

The 37-year-old, who holds the WBA ‘super’, WBC, and WBO heavyweight titles, will defend his belts against Fury on December 21 in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Joshua is set to face Daniel Dubois for the IBF title on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

“I don’t particularly want any matches. But, when we beat Tyson Fury for the second time and when Anthony Joshua beats Daniel Dubois, of course they will want to do a third fight,” Usyk told Mail Sport Boxing.

The Ukrainian boxer, who has twice defeated Joshua by decision, acknowledged the British-Nigerian’s role in boosting his global profile.

“Anthony helped me become even more famous in the world. Anthony did it. And if it happens with God’s help, then I am ready for a third fight with Anthony,” Usyk said.

Usyk also praised Joshua’s recent performances, noting his improved mental strength.

When asked about Joshua’s chances against Dubois, Usyk confidently replied, “He has improved a lot psychologically.”

“Of course (he beats Dubois). I’m bad at predictions, but it’s (an) Olympic champion and a UK champion. Anthony is a different level.”

Joshua, 34, has remained undefeated in four fights since his back-to-back losses to Usyk. His most recent victory was a second-round knockout of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in March.

Usyk made history by becoming only the second boxer after Evander Holyfield to achieve undisputed champion status in both cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions and the first to do so in the four-belt era.

As both fighters prepare for their upcoming bouts, there is a possibility of a third Usyk-Joshua clash, which would be another exciting chapter in heavyweight boxing.
