Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has revealed that he isn’t upset about being excluded from the CAF Player of the Year Award shortlist.
The Bayer Leverkusen star enjoyed a remarkable season, securing the Bundesliga title with an unbeaten run and narrowly missing out on the Europa League trophy to Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta.
The Nigerian international emphasised that his focus remains on improving his game and becoming a better player.

“Not sad, but a bit disappointed. I had an amazing season last year, so not being included… maybe the award is more for players in AFCON, I don’t know. But if it’s truly about the African Player of the Year, I believe I had a great season,” Victor Boniface shared during a chat with Pooja on X.
He added, “I don’t feel the need to prove anything to anyone. Honestly, I don’t care much about awards. But as a footballer, I’m focused on improving and achieving more for myself.”
