Nigerian singer Korede Bello has claimed that the quality of music from young artists in the country has diminished.
The 28-year-old made these comments during a recent episode of Hip TV’s programme *Trending*, hosted by reality star KimOprah. Bello suggested that the lack of experience among younger artists contributes to the decline in music quality.
He argued that as young artists rise to fame, their music often suffers because they lack meaningful life experiences. “When young artists start to gain popularity, the quality of their music tends to decrease because they haven’t experienced much,” Bello said.
“They don’t fully understand life yet. They might be living large, but their songs often reflect only that superficial experience. Compare this to artists like African China, Timaya, or Fela, who have lived through and witnessed a lot. Their music reflects their rich experiences and reality.
“It’s not entirely the young artists’ fault; they can only produce music based on what they know.”
