Roma re-appoints Claudio Ranieri as head coach for a third time.

Italian football club Roma has re-appointed Claudio Ranieri as head coach for a third time.

Roma announced the decision on Thursday, stating that Ranieri will move into a “senior executive role” at the end of the 2024/25 season and will have a say in selecting the next head coach. The club’s statement reads: “At the end of the season, Claudio will transition into a senior executive role, advising ownership on all sporting matters. The search for a future coach will continue in the coming months.”

Ranieri, now 73, is celebrated for leading Leicester City to their historic Premier League title in the 2015/16 season. He previously managed Roma on two separate occasions, first over a decade ago and again in 2019 on a short-term contract.

In his new role, Ranieri is tasked with revitalising the team, which has struggled this season with only three wins in Serie A. The club recently dismissed manager Ivan Juric after just 12 matches following his September appointment to replace Daniele De Rossi, who had been brought in earlier in January as a successor to Jose Mourinho.
