The Osun State Government has urged residents to prioritise safe sex, especially during Valentine’s Day celebrations, by avoiding unprotected intercourse.
In a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), Olusegun Daramola, the government announced plans to distribute free condoms and lubricants at selected malls and lounges to promote safer sexual practices.
Daramola highlighted Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, stressing the importance of knowing one’s status.
“HIV/AIDS remains a major public health concern, and it’s crucial to avoid risky behaviours like unprotected sex. We encourage everyone to get tested,” he said.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to reducing HIV prevalence in Osun, urging collective efforts to end AIDS by 2030.
“To support safe practices, condoms and lubricants will be available at selected locations. Let’s spread love responsibly,” the statement added.
