Mohamed Ben Romdhane struck deep into stoppage time to hand Tunisia a 1-0 victory over Equatorial Guinea on Monday, sealing their spot at the 2026 World Cup in North America.
The late winner secured Tunisia an unassailable lead at the top of Group H, making them the second African team to qualify after Morocco.
With 22 points from eight matches, the Carthage Eagles sit 10 points clear of Namibia, who still have a game in hand but can no longer catch them.
Ben Romdhane, who plays for Egyptian giants Al Ahly, netted in the 94th minute after being set up by Firas Chaouat.
Tunisia’s squad featured players from nine different countries, including Premier League midfielder Hannibal Mejbri of Burnley. They are coached by Sami Trabelsi, a former defender who captained Tunisia at the 1998 World Cup in France.
Elsewhere, Morocco preserved their perfect Group E record with a 2-0 win away to Zambia courtesy of goals from Youssef En-Nesyri and Hamza Igamane, while Mozambique defeated Botswana 2-0 in Maputo — a result that prevented Group G leaders Algeria from sealing qualification later on Monday, even if they beat Guinea away.
