Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has delivered an encouraging team update ahead of Saturday evening’s Premier League clash with West Ham at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues return to domestic action after a thrilling 3–2 comeback win over Napoli in the UEFA Champions League, and Rosenior confirmed that Cole Palmer is fit and available to start against the Hammers.
Palmer made a decisive impact off the bench in Naples, setting up two goals for Joao Pedro and coming through the match without any concerns.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Rosenior said Palmer had no issues following the midweek fixture. He praised the midfielder’s performance and confirmed he is ready to feature from the start, describing the news as a major boost for the team.
Rosenior also spoke about Palmer’s mindset, highlighting his hunger to play while emphasising the need to carefully manage his workload. He noted that while Palmer wants to be on the pitch at all times, decisions are always taken with the player’s long-term wellbeing in mind.
The Chelsea boss also gave updates on several injured players. Romeo Lavia, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Dario Essugo are all making steady progress in their recovery, though none will be rushed back into action. Tosin has returned to the pitch for individual rehabilitation, Lavia is nearing the final stages of his recovery, and Essugo remains slightly behind the others.
There was further positive news regarding Levi Colwill, who has been sidelined since pre-season with a knee injury. Rosenior confirmed the defender is progressing well and could make a return before the end of the season, but stressed that caution will be maintained.
Chelsea will aim to carry their European momentum into the league when they host West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
