Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly declined to feature for the Saudi Pro League club amid growing dissatisfaction with the team’s management and level of financial support.
According to Sky Sports on Monday, Ronaldo was absent from both the starting lineup and substitutes’ bench as Al Nassr took on Al Riyadh.
The 40-year-old, who joined the club in 2023 and remains one of the league’s most high-profile players, is believed to be expressing concerns over the club’s leadership and long-term direction.
Ronaldo’s frustration is reportedly linked to what he perceives as unequal backing from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which holds majority stakes in Al Nassr, Al Hilal, Al Ahli, and Al Ittihad.
While rival clubs have strengthened their squads with notable signings, Al Nassr’s transfer activity has been limited. The club’s most significant addition is said to be an 18-year-old Iraqi midfielder, a move Ronaldo reportedly views as insufficient for a title-challenging side.
He is also understood to be unhappy with the club’s overall management, adding to concerns as Al Nassr continues its pursuit of a Saudi Pro League title since his arrival.
Sky Sports also reported that Ronaldo was fully fit but did not take part in the match.
