At the end of the ceremony, there were only 15 contenders for the title, out of 33 at the start. The winner, Kedist Deltour comes from Nazareth (East Flanders) and she’s a hairdresser.
The climax of the occasion was when Kedist Deltour told her personal story which many are not aware of and everyone was emotional. Born in Ethiopia, Kedist Deltour lost her mother to cancer at the age of eight. Her father abandoned her, along with her brother and sister, to an orphanage a year later. Belgian couple, Peter and Nadège Deltour adopted her when she was ten years old.
“My adoptive parents and this country gave me everything. I feel ready to represent Belgium“
She stated in her previous interview.
Thanaree Scheerlinck, a 24-year-old beautician from Wemmel, is the first runner-up. Louise-Marie Losfeld, originally from Ostend, completes the podium. The young Elodie Gualano, 18, from Neufmaison, is the third runner-up.
