Brentford Football Club, a prominent team in the Premier League, has exercised their option to secure the services of Benjamin Frederick, a promising defender from the Flying Eagles. The decision was confirmed by renowned Italian journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, who reported that Brentford chose to activate the buy option to bring in the 18-year-old talent. Frederick hails from the Simoiben Academy, based in Kaduna and owned by Super Eagles forward, Moses Simon.

According to Romano, the contractual agreement between Brentford and Frederick is set to extend until 2028, indicating a long-term commitment from both parties. Frederick’s journey in football began at the Simoiben Football Academy, where he honed his skills before joining ABS FC ahead of the 2021–22 season. His debut for ABS FC came in February 2022, where he showcased his talent by earning the man of the match award.

In August 2023, Brentford secured Frederick’s services on a loan deal, with the option to make the transfer permanent in the future. This move highlighted Brentford’s confidence in the young defender’s potential and their desire to integrate him into their squad. Frederick’s inclusion in Brentford’s first-team match-day squad occurred in January 2024, where he was named as a substitute for an FA Cup encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

On the international stage, Frederick represented the Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s under-20 national team, with distinction. He played a pivotal role in their third-place finish at the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations held in Egypt, featuring prominently in every match. His impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Flying Eagles squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, demonstrating his status as a rising star in Nigerian football.
