Tottenham Hotspur earned a convincing 3-0 win over West Ham United in Saturday’s London derby, claiming their first victory at the London Stadium since 2019.
West Ham started on the front foot, with Mohammed Kudus central to their early play and Lucas Paquetá firing just wide. Spurs briefly thought they had taken the lead through Cristian Romero’s header, but the effort was ruled out for a foul by Micky van de Ven.
As the half wore on, Tottenham grew into the game, with Pape Matar Sarr and Pedro Porro combining dangerously, while goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario survived a scare from a Jarrod Bowen delivery. The sides went into the break level, but momentum was firmly with Ange Postecoglou’s men.
That pressure told almost immediately after the restart when Sarr opened the scoring with a close-range header from Xavi Simons’ assist. Bowen looked to spark a West Ham fightback, only for Vicario to deny him before the Hammers’ task became even harder. Tomáš Souček was dismissed for a reckless foul on João Palhinha, leaving the hosts a man down.
From the resulting set-piece, Lucas Bergvall doubled the advantage with a looping header past Mads Hermansen. Van de Ven sealed the points just minutes later, steering a precise finish into the bottom corner as travelling Spurs fans celebrated in full voice.
The result marked Tottenham’s third league win in four games, underlining their strong start to the season. For David Moyes and West Ham, however, it was another setback — their fourth defeat in five matches across all competitions.
