Muluwork Ambaw, a woman from Jimma, Ethiopia, has stirred intrigue by claiming she hasn’t eaten, drunk, or utilized the toilet for the past 16 years. Recollecting her last meal—a lentil stew enjoyed at the age of 10—she now, at 26, asserts that she simply lacks the desire to eat or drink.
Despite her remarkable assertion, medical examinations conducted in India, Qatar, and Dubai have failed to elucidate this baffling phenomenon. Even Drew Binsky, a Guinness World Record holder and YouTuber, sought to unravel the mystery during a visit to Muluwork’s residence.
Muluwork, a mother of one, recounts her family’s futile attempts to persuade her to eat, masked by her feigned compliance. Although she spends time tending to her garden and cooking for her family, her own appetite remains absent.
Despite the disbelief surrounding her condition, Muluwork remains an enigma, her inexplicable sustenance defying conventional understanding.

Muluwork’s remarkable fasting journey spans 16 years, during which she hasn’t found the need to visit the restroom. She explained to Drew, “The only reason I go to the bathroom is when I need to wash my body. I haven’t used the toilet for 16 years.”
During her pregnancy, Muluwork received glucose infusions to compensate for her body’s energy needs. Despite this, she couldn’t breastfeed due to a lack of milk production. “And when I gave birth, she fed on artificial milk,” she clarified.
When questioned by Drew about the truth of her claims, Muluwork simply affirmed, “Yes, it’s true. I haven’t eaten for the last 16 years.” Despite undergoing numerous medical tests that found no abnormalities, Drew and his team delved deeper into her story and corroborated it.
After three years of intensive testing, doctors observed an absence of food, water, or waste products in Muluwork’s digestive tract, indicating no need for urination or defecation.
Additional tests in Dubai and Qatar focused on her mental well-being, yielding no concerning findings. Muluwork attributes her extraordinary condition to the divine, stating, “It’s the work of God.” She intends to persist with her fast, expressing doubt about ever resuming eating.
To skeptics, Muluwork extends an invitation to visit her, confident that witnessing her abstinence from food and drink will dispel any doubts.
