Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel expressed his delight following the club’s recent 3-0 victory over West Ham, praising the team’s performance and commending key players.
Previously critical of striker Nicolas Jackson, Mikel was quick to acknowledge the forward’s standout performance. Speaking on his latest episode of the *Obi One Podcast*, Mikel said, “Nicolas Jackson wants the best for Chelsea Football Club. He’s a fantastic player, and it’s amazing to see him taking my advice to improve.”
Mikel was particularly impressed with Jackson’s finishing, noting, “The way he scored the two goals was absolutely fantastic.” He clarified that his earlier criticism was intended to encourage growth, adding, “We’re not here to put anyone down.”
He also highlighted Moisés Caicedo’s contributions, calling it “Caicedo’s best game in a Chelsea shirt,” and likened his performance to that of N’Golo Kanté. “It was like watching a Kante performance,” Mikel remarked.
Optimistic about Chelsea’s future under manager Enzo Maresca, Mikel praised the team’s system and depth, saying, “Everything is coming together, and players off the bench are improving the performance.”
On Saturday, Jackson’s two goals helped secure Chelsea’s 3-0 win at West Ham, with Cole Palmer sealing the victory. Despite calls for Christopher Nkunku to start after his match-winning impact against Bournemouth, Maresca’s faith in Jackson was rewarded with a decisive brace from the Senegalese striker, further solidifying his position as Chelsea’s first-choice forward.
