Anthony Joshua floors Jake Paul in sixth-round knockout

by Admin

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua produced a commanding display on Saturday morning, stopping YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul with a sixth-round knockout in their heavyweight clash in Miami.

While Paul surpassed expectations by surviving the early rounds, Joshua’s superior power and experience ultimately told, The Athletic reports.

The British star floored Paul twice in a frantic fifth round, paving the way for the finish. Joshua then sealed the victory in the sixth, unleashing a sustained barrage of heavy punches that left Paul unable to continue, forcing the referee to stop the fight.

After the bout, Joshua shifted his focus to long-time rival Tyson Fury, issuing a direct challenge.

“Put down your Twitter fingers, put on some gloves and come and fight me,” he said.

Paul later revealed he suffered a broken jaw during the contest and declined to name his next opponent. Instead, he said he would take a break from boxing following the defeat, which marked the second loss of his professional career.

Despite the setback, Paul, currently ranked No. 14 cruiserweight by the WBA, has recorded notable wins over former world champions. He defeated a 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November 2024 during Netflix’s boxing debut and most recently outpointed 39-year-old Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. in June.
