Davido pays tribute to late son Ifeanyi 3 years after his tragic death

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has paid tribute to his late son, Ifeanyi, nearly three years after the tragic incident that claimed his life.

In an emotional post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Davido wrote, “Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND!!”

Ifeanyi passed away on October 31, 2022, after a drowning accident at the family’s home in Banana Island, Lagos. At the time, Davido and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, were reportedly not at home.

The Lagos State Police confirmed the heartbreaking news, with an autopsy indicating drowning as the cause of death. Eight domestic workers were initially taken in for questioning, with two remaining under investigation as authorities worked to clarify the circumstances.

The tragedy drew widespread sympathy across Nigeria and beyond, with heartfelt messages pouring in from public figures including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, rapper Bia, Meek Mill, and footballer Victor Moses. Many described the loss of a child as an unimaginable pain no parent should face.

Davido stepped away from the spotlight following Ifeanyi’s death but made a powerful return in 2023 with the release of his album “Timeless.” That same year, he and Chioma welcomed a set of twins in the United States, marking a new chapter in their journey.
