Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur, has shown interest in purchasing Liverpool FC, according to his father, Errol Musk.
With a net worth estimated at $418 billion, Musk has been making headlines recently, not only for his business ventures but also for his growing ties with former U.S. President Donald Trump. Reports indicate that Musk donated around $270 million to the Republican Party, supporting Trump’s return to the White House in the recent election.
Since Trump’s November victory, Musk has been spotted alongside him at various high-profile events, including celebrations at Mar-a-Lago, UFC matches, and college football games. Now, it seems Musk may be turning his attention to English football.
As the visionary behind Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter), the 53-year-old billionaire appears poised to further expand his empire by potentially acquiring one of the world’s most iconic football clubs.
In a recent interview with Times Radio, Errol Musk was asked about his son’s interest in Liverpool. While cautious, he hinted at Elon’s enthusiasm for the club.
“Has he expressed a desire to buy Liverpool Football Club?” the interviewer asked.
Errol replied with a laugh, “I can’t comment on that. They’ll raise the price.” He added, “Oh, yes. But that doesn’t mean he’s buying it. He would like to, yes, obviously. Anybody would want to—so would I!”
Family Ties to Liverpool
Errol Musk also revealed a personal connection to Liverpool, explaining the family’s long-standing ties to the city.
“His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we had relatives there. We were fortunate to know quite a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So, we are attached to Liverpool, you know,” he shared.
Elon Musk has previously spoken warmly about his grandmother, Cora Amelia Robinson, who was born in Mossley Hill, Liverpool, in 1923. She endured a challenging upbringing in pre-war poverty before emigrating to South Africa in 1944. Musk credits her with shaping his values and work ethic.
“She was an important part of my childhood,” Musk once wrote on X. “She grew up poor in England during the Great Depression, survived WW2 bombings, and worked hard to support her family by cleaning houses. Her resilience and kindness left a lasting impression on me.”
While no formal negotiations have been confirmed, Musk’s interest in Liverpool FC has certainly sparked curiosity about the potential expansion of his global ventures into the football world.
