EPL: Palmer to miss three Chelsea games after toe injury
Chelsea and England forward, Cole Palmer, will be unavailable for the club’s next three matches after fracturing a toe, head coach Enzo Maresca confirmed on Friday.
Maresca revealed that the 23-year-old, who had only just returned to training following a two-month layoff with a groin injury, picked up the toe injury at home after accidentally stubbing it against a door during the night.
As a result, Palmer will miss Saturday’s Premier League trip to Burnley, Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona, and next weekend’s league fixture against leaders Arsenal.
“He is probably not available for tomorrow for sure, Barcelona for sure, or Arsenal for sure,” Maresca said.
“Unfortunately, he had an accident at home where he hit his toe, but it is nothing serious — though he won’t be back in the next week.”
Palmer, who scored twice in Chelsea’s Club World Cup final win over Paris Saint-Germain in July, is expected to play a key role for England ahead of next year’s World Cup.
