Salah blasts Liverpool fan page for disrespecting Díaz and Núñez

by Admin

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has called out a Liverpool fan account on X (formerly Twitter) for what he described as “disrespectful” treatment of Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz.

The controversy arose after the fan page compared the club’s new big-money arrivals — Florian Wirtz (£116m from Bayer Leverkusen) and Alexander Isak (£125m from Newcastle, a British transfer record) — with the recently departed forwards.

Darwin Núñez, who joined Al-Hilal for €53m after an inconsistent spell at Anfield, had been Liverpool’s record signing in 2022 at £64m (potentially rising to £85m with add-ons). Luis Díaz, meanwhile, left for Bayern Munich in a £65.5m deal after cementing himself as a key attacking figure under Arne Slot.

Liverpool’s summer spending hit £446m — the highest single-window outlay in Premier League history — with Hugo Ekitike (£79m), Jeremie Frimpong (£29.5m), Milos Kerkez (£40m), and Giorgi Mamardashvili (£29m) also arriving. The club raised £228.1m through player sales but missed out on Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi on deadline day, a deal worth £35m.

Despite what many consider a hugely successful window, the fan account @AnfieldEdition mocked Díaz and Núñez in a black-and-white collage beside coloured photos of Wirtz and Isak. Salah quickly reacted, slamming the post and defending his former teammates against what he viewed as needless disrespect.
