Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martínez has issued a strong message to his teammates, urging anyone who isn’t fully committed to the club to leave this summer.
Martínez made the remarks after Inter’s shock 2-0 defeat to Fluminense in the Club World Cup Round of 16 on Monday.
Fluminense struck early through Germán Cano, who headed in a deflected cross in just the third minute. Substitute Hercules sealed the win late on, sending the Brazilian side through to the quarter-finals and knocking Inter out.
Speaking after the game, Martínez didn’t hold back.
“I want to fight for big titles. If you want to stay at Inter, great—let’s fight together. If not, you’re free to go,” he said.
“We need players who truly want to be here. This is an important shirt—we need the right mentality. If you don’t have it, please leave.
“I’m the captain, and I’m saying this clearly: if you don’t want to stay, goodbye.”
